Sam Goi Biography

Goi was born in Fuqing, in Fujian province, China the son of a farmer. After dropping out of school he began working in his family’s grocery store, but his break came when he bought a struggling food unit. He never looked back, owns Tee Yih Jia Food Manufacturing, and is known as Singapore’s Popiah King. Popiah skins, made of wheat flour, are thin, soft paper like pancakes or crepes which are used to make spring rolls. Tee Yih Jia Food Manufacturing is the largest manufacturer of them in the world.

Outside of popiahs, Goh was the largest shareholder of Super Coffeemix, and has significant stakes in the GSH and KOP real estate companies. He is also Singapore's non-resident ambassador to Brazil.
