Geoffrey Kwok is the grandson of Kwok Tak-seng the founder of Sun Hung Kai Properties, and the eldest son of Walter Kwok, the founder of the Empire Group, and along with his brothers the inheritor of Sun Hung Kai (SHKP), the largest real estate developer in Asia. Walter Kwok died in 2018, but prior to that, after a feud with his two brothers Raymond and Thomas, he had left his position as Chairman of SHKP, going on to set up the Empire Group.

Geoffrey Kwok studied at yale, gaining a bachelor's degree in economics, before following that up with an MBA at Stanford University. He was working as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley up until the death of his father in 2018, after which he became a director of the Empire Group. Shortly afterwards he joined the board of SHKP and managed its hotel division.
