Lui Che Woo Biography
Lui Che Woo was born in Jiangmen, southern China. Taking advantage of the post war need for construction materials, he set up the K. Wah company which supplied gravel to Hong Kong’s construction industry.
A decade later he developed the business away from merely construction materials into property investment. Later still in the 1980’s he went into the hotel development business, as well as expanding his interests into mainland China.
In 2002 he diversified again when he became one of Macau’s six gaming concessionaries. In May 2011 his Galaxy Entertainment Group opened the Galaxy Macau casino and hotel complex. The $2 billion resort features 2,200 rooms, 450 gambling tables, 50 restaurants, a wave pool and even an artificial beach.
Three of his children are involved in his businesses, with Francis his eldest son overseeing operations at galaxy, and Paddy his daughter and Alexander his son work at K.Wah.
