Edwin Soeryadjaya Biography
Edwin Soeryadjaya, also known as Tjia Han Pun, was born in Jakarta, the son of the late William Soeryadjaya, the founder of Astra International the automotive group. When Bank Summa, owned by a member of his family, ran into financial difficulty in 1992, William sold all his Astra shares, bailing out Bank Summa, but wiping out his own fortune.
With a degree from Los Angeles’ University of Southern California, Edwin set up Saratoga Investama Sedaya in 1997, a private equity firm. Through that, he helped to rebuild the family fortune, investing in 20 companies including Adara Energy.
In 2011 Edwin, along with his partner Sandiaga Uno bought Mandala Airlines, and he also part owns Tower Bersama Infrastructure, a company that builds cell towers.
