Gordon Tang Biography
The list of billionaires who started out as professional windsurfers is a short one, but if such a list exists, Gordon Tang heads it up. Born in Shantou, Tang, who also goes by the name of Yigang Tang, was doing that full time, until he and his wife Celine moved from Guangdong to Singapore, where they would become permanent residents.
Together with his wife who is actually CEO of the business, they own a controlling stake in SingHaiyi, a property development company listed in Singapore. They also have an 18% stake in Suntec REIT which has several commercial properties located in Singapore’s CBD and financial district in its portfolio.
Elsewhere, Tang is chairman of American Pacific International Capital, Inc and has stakes in OUE hospitality and OKH Global.
